I haven't done Friday Fragments for a few weeks, mainly because I have not been doing too much to post about.  Winter has kept us indoors so much more than usual.  Today is the first day of Spring and we are starting to have a little hope of Spring in the weather forecast.  

We celebrated a birthday today at our daily walk in the mall.  After walking we usually spend an hour or so in the food court drinking coffee and chatting.  I have met a lovely lady, who walks everyday and visits with us, unless, she is delivering meals on wheels to seniors that day.  She turned 91 today and we celebrated with Maggie's (of Maggie and Jiggs) homemade cinnamon rolls. Ninety-one and she walks 6 days a week then delivers meals to other seniors, This lady is amazing and I want to be just like her when I grow up.

On Saturday we are going to the monthly meeting of The Greater Ozark British Motoring Club.  We haven't gone this winter because the weather has been bad on the meeting dates. I have to remember to bring the check book to pay the dues for this year.  They meet at a garage for an early morning technical meeting at 9:30 and we usually meet up with them at lunch at Logan's Roadhouse.  Mr BC wants to go to all the meeting and since Springfield MO is about an hour away,  I am going to have him drop me off at Battlefield Mall early....for a little walking and shopping and then he can pick me up for lunch. Going out for lunch, it has been so long.

Had a nice visit with DD2 on Wednesday.  I usually see her when she comes here to dry her clothes every other Wednesday....she has a washer but no dryer.  She was here most of the afternoon finishing up her laundry and I also drove her to pick up her car which was in the shop.  Just a nice visit!

1) In this song, Aretha's ideal car is a pink Caddy. What's your dream vehicle? A 1965 Cherry Red Mustang. 

2) Have you ever owned a convertible? We have 3 right now, all vintage British Sports Cars. An MGB, MGTF, and a middle of restoration Triumph R3.

3) Aretha longs to "drop the pedal and go." Are you a careful, conservative driver? Or do you enjoy going fast? I go with the traffic and I think I am a defensive driver.

4) Aretha's grandmother Rachel helped raise her. Tell us about one of your grandparents. Harry was born in the 19th century and was a farmer in Oklahoma, and also a rural postman. He and grandma moved to California when he retired at the end of WW2. I remember him as being a little gruff as he wouldn't let us win at card games just because we were kids. He was my favorite of all my grandparents. He always wore a hat.  

5) Aretha played a waitress in the 1980 movie, The Blues Brothers. Have you ever worked in food service? My first job was passing dinner trays at a nursing home and picking them up and taking them to the kitchen.  I was a senior in high school.  

6) Aretha was a chain smoker for decades and had a terrible time giving up cigarettes. What habit do you wish you could break? I wish I could curb my sweet tooth.  It is the cause of my weight and the condition of my teeth.

7) A sculpture of Aretha is at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in New York City. What's the last museum you visited? The Natural History museum in Santa Barbara with Лука, they have a sand box where you can dig for dinosaur bones.  It is a charming little museum.

8) Since Aretha has many honorary degrees, it would be appropriate to refer to her as Dr. Franklin. Who is the last person you addressed by his or her title (Officer, Father, Pastor, Dr., etc.)? My family physician last week. 

9) The daughter of a minister, Aretha enjoys singing "church music" and her 1972 CD Amazing Grace is one of the best sellers in gospel music history. Do you have any gospel music on your phone, iPod or MP3 player? I have Aretha on our devices, but not gospel. I enjoy a little gospel but, I prefer hymns sung, as I remember them being sung, if at all. I love this version of Amazing Grace with Il Devo.

Friday Fragments-What I Did on My Christmas Vacation

JOINING MRS 4444 FOR FRIDAY FRAGMENTS

Well we are back from our trip to California.  We left the Monday after Christmas trying to get home before New Years.  We arrived home the Friday after New Years.  Part of it had to do with not being able to leave before noon, because Mr BC had to pick up parts at Moss Motors, for the Triumph, he is restoring.  He thought as long as he was in town......This put us in Los Angeles, right in the middle of evening traffic.....really bad traffic and we it was bad all the way to Victorville.  Essentially we lost a whole day, thank you very much.

When we decided to stop early the next day, because we were beat.  The nice lady at the KOA Kampground, encouraged us to go on well past Flagstaff, as they were expecting a massive weather storm and might not get out the next day.  From then on we were out in front of winter storms the rest of the way home.  After the last trip to CA in the winter and this we have decided we are not winter campers.....Though the weather while we were in CA was fantastic.  Getting home is problematic.

As I said the weather was beautiful in Carpenteria, where we camped at the State Beach.  This was our view out our front door.

A trip down the beach takes you to the naturally occurring surface asphalt the Chumash Indians used to seal their canoes.  Petroleum seeps are still visible along the beach bluffs at Tar Pits Park on the campground beach of Carpinteria State Beach. *Wickipedia

Christmas was fun with the boys...both have grown so tall and I love that I can hold a rather grown up conversation with almost 6 year old Лука, He is as patient as he can be most of the time, with his little brother.  He got a bigger bicycle this year. 

It was the only thing that, almost 3 year old Caшa, didn't claim.....Mine, mine, mine!  

 Caшa, already has a smaller glider bike that he can maneuver quite well.  They both went out for rides, later in the day with the kids in the neighborhood.

Everyone stayed healthy while we were there so thankfully we made it home healthy.  Though, Thursday all day, Mr BC was laid low with a very upset stomach bug.  I did not know he had all that in him!  It has not progressed to anything else so maybe it was something he ate.

Friday Fragments

We have a European trip planned for September 2015,  I made the reservations this week and put the deposit down.  Lots of planning to do in the meantime. It is a tour with some free time built into it.  We also built 2 extra days in London so we can see more, I've been. but Mr BC has not and he has lots of things on his list.  Paris and Rome will be new to both of us.  Exciting times ahead!

We went to our first meeting of the Greater Ozark British Car Club, they meet for lunch once a month for lunch and meeting.  We are going on this Saturday for a drive with them in our vintage MG,  We will be driving into the hills to see the colorful Fall Foliage and have lunch again.  Some of you may remember that Mr BC loves his British cars, he has 2 ready to drive and one that he is restoring.

My hand is doing so  much better, I only wear my splint when I am tired and it starts hurting.  I have not had to take pain medicine except some Aleve in the evening if it is sore from overuse.  I am no good with my left hand.

Well, when we went to Walmart, to fix DD2's spare tire last week, I heard my first Christmas tune.  Too soon!

Took sweet Caspar to the vet, he was running a temp and had blood in his urine, and been having accidents, thus, with the puppy pads we had put down for him, we were able to determine the blood.

He is on a course of antibiotics. He has not had an accident.....must have been cystitis.  The Dr ruled out stones.  We have two weeks of the medicine.
