Saturday 9: Tubular Bells (1973) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) According to Reader's Digest, The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time. Have you seen it, and if so, did it scare you? 
I read the book before the movie and it actually scared me more than the movie did....but it was scary enough.
 

2) The Exorcist has been made into a TV series on Fox, premiering last month. Have you become a fan of any of the season's new shows?  
I did not care for the TV show, but I do like some of the new shows.  I like Designated Survivor, the best of all of them so far.
 
3) "Tubular Bells" is a popular ringtone for both Android and iPhone. What's your ringtone? An old telephone ring...not very creative.
 
4) As Halloween approaches, do you watch more scary shows and movies? 
I am not really fond of horror, but I do like a good thriller or mystery.

5) Do you have any recurring nightmares? 
I had the same dream over and over when I sold Mom's house 15 years ago. She had come back and was upset because someone else was living in her house. I was upset, that I had thought she was dead and could not explain why I thought that, to her.  Over the years it got worse, because, my dad came back and and they had no where to live. It was variations of that dream, and I would wake up very unsettled.  I haven't had it for a long time now.  When I dream about them now, they are happier dreams, and not guilt filled. Now that I am retired, I just have work dreams, and I am not getting paid anything for the trouble.

6) Have you carved a jack o' lantern this year? No, but I have had a lot of pumpkin spice coffee, biscotti, a pumpkin pie poptart...Does any one want the rest of the box? There is a lot of pumpkin spice out there.

7) Do you like the taste of pumpkin seeds? I have never had any.
 
8) What will the trick or treaters who knock on your door get? I have another bag of Snickers, just in case, we actually have a trick or treater. I could finish that off this weekend and no one would be the wiser.

 
9) A Halloween "let's pretend:" Back in the 1950s, a home in your neighborhood was the site of a gruesome murder/suicide. Relatives retained ownership of the house but declined to live there. During the ensuing decades, a legend grew: The tragic couple haunts the halls. Generations of schoolchildren insist they heard strange sounds and saw curtains often move mysteriously. Now the house is about to be demolished. A local charity is raising money by sponsoring a Halloween sleepover. Would you be willing to stay in this haunted house over night?   
As long as other people would be there.  I don't believe in ghosts, but you can't be too careful. If it is a sponsored event, the planners might have some scares in store for the people brave enough to stay.  I'll keep my running shoes on, thank you!

Friendly Fill-Ins and My Friday Fragments

I am trying to post a little more often, and since some of my blog friends post here, I thought I would add Fridays back to my posting, with Friendly Fill-Ins. *I'm not sure what is going on with this post, it won't correct the font sizing.

Week 25: October 28, 2016

1. The first thing I check when I go online is:  The news on the Yahoo home page.  I use to go to Yahoo games and play several word games, I liked, but the game page has been discontinued.  Or, if I have a post on my blog the previous day, I will go and check the comments.  Then I check my e-mail.

2. My signature dish is:  Chicken enchiladas and guacamole.  Mr BC and I first lived here, in Hooterville, in 1968, when he was going to college. Every time I went to CA to see my folks I always filled the suitcase with the ingredients for tacos and enchiladas as I could not find them here.  Tortillas were actually sold in a can???  This time around the ingredients can be found in grocery stores. But, I still haven't found a Mexican restaurant that I can recommend.

3. My Halloween night is usually: Very quiet,  we never have trick or treaters, even though the first year, I decorated and I leave a light on.  We live in town, but we are the only house on our block with a field across the street, so kids north of us stay in their development and other kids don't make it to our house.

 4. Trick or treaters:  May not come, since, I don't decorate any more and it is kind of dark on our block..  I always have a bag of candy, just in case.  I notice they concentrate on Main Street because of the better lighting. There are also several alternative Trick or Treating in the area, which is think is safer.

I recently found a bag of Chocolate Covered Cherry coffee at Big Lots, brought it home and it was great...I went back to get some more a few days later, and they were sold out, I did try the blueberry cobbler and it was just OK. Big Lots is just like Ross or TJ Max, if you see something you like get it NOW or it will be gone if you go back.

I am currently hooked on an Australian series  Offspring, on Netflix.  I would watch it straight through if Mr BC would let me....it's sort of a chick fiick.  I watch it, while he is taking his nap in his chair and can usually get through 2 before he wakes up.  There are 6 seasons all together.

Saturday 9: My Life Would Suck Without You (2009)

Been away from posting for a while, but I still visit others and make comments when I can.  I liked the questions this week so I am back.... until I go again. I just don't seem to be up to it.
1) This video begins with Ms. Clarkson on a swing. When you were young, did you prefer the swings or the slide? We had a school at the end of our street and the play ground was within sight of our house, so I was always on the swings, there was no slide....California....not safe.

2) The first words are, "Guess this means you're sorry." Who is the last person to apologize to you? I can't even remember....probably Mr BC, because he had said something that hurt my feeling or something.

3) One of Kelly's earliest show business jobs was as an extra on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. Do you believe in witches and warlocks? Uh, No! I know that some women can be witches....but not the magical kind.

4) Mentioning witches and seeing Kelly with a lollipop reminds Sam ... She needs to pick up a 1 lb. bag of Dum Dums for Trick or Treaters. Have you done anything in preparation for Halloween? Oh yes....I have polished off a bag of miniature snickers.  We don't have Trick or Treaters here, although, I will pick up another bag of candy, just in case. 

5) Ms. Clarkson's advice to aspiring young singers is not to listen to advice. "Everyone gives you their 2¢ worth, but you have to follow your gut." Are you good at soliciting and following advice? Or do you tend to follow your gut?  I do both, I am always ready to find out how others do things....If it seems sound....I will give it a try.

6) The year this song was popular, 2009, saw two major newspapers go out of business. Both the Seattle Post Intelligencer and Rocky Mountain published their last editions. Do you still read a paper copy of your local newspaper? No, Mr BC still gets the Joplin Globe, and reads it front to back. He had 2 school friends pass away last week.  He is, all the time telling me little tidbits, from the news.

7) In 2009, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Facebook tried to buy Twitter, but was rebuffed. Which social media site do you spend the most time on? Facebook and Blogger. I am old school, I don't do Twitter, Instagram etc.

8) In 2009, the Balmain Collection included a pair of jeans that retailed for $2,165. What's the most you would pay for denim pants? Never more than $39.95, lately I just get cheap jeans with elastic waist bands.  I am very un..chic! Comfortable and less than $20.00, or on sale.

9) Random question: You buy a charity raffle ticket and tuck it into a friend's birthday card. Before you can give it to her, the numbers are drawn and you realize it's worth $500. Do you still give it to her?  I would probably keep the prize if I was so late with the card, that the numbers had been drawn.
