What I Remember-Chat 151

What's the earliest time in your life you can remember? Can you remember being 2 years old, 5 years old, etc? I can remember being 4 years old.  I remember going to the Rose Parade and shaking Hopalong Cassidy's hand. I can remember going to the first day of school, and ballet lessons at 5 years.  It is hard to tell what is memory and what is looking at pictures.

What's do you like to put on pasta? (Your favorite topping.) I like red sauce and Italian Sausage.  Also, I am fond of spaghetti and chili.

Is there something that takes time away from more important things in your life? (TV, internet, talking on the telephone, etc.) Yes, TV and the internet.  I have been scaling back on both.

Do you buy many clothes that are "high maintenance"? (Clothes that need to be ironed, dry cleaned, or hand washed) I have nothing in my closet that require ironing or dry cleaning.  I do hand wash a small number of things.

Please finish this sentence. "I'd like to visit the beach today in Santa Barbara and watch my grandsons play.  We don't often visit them during beach weather. I lived in CA for most of my life and I was not very fond of beaches after I was grown.  We do not take Beach Vacations.

Random, Randomness - Sunday Stealing

1.  How did you choose your baby's or pet's names?
When we were selecting a name for our corgi, we wanted to pick a Welsh one with some meaning. One of the meanings of Gwendolyn is white circle. Our Gwennie had a white ring around her neck.

Saturday 9: I'm a Believer

Thanks to Cie for recommending the Monkees

1) This song is about a guy who fell in love when he saw her face. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I think it might really be lust at first sight.

Daddy's Back Saturday 9

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.
1) Crazy Sam's dad often traveled for business, and always remembered to bring her the little complimentary soaps or body lotions he got from the hotel. When you travel, do you bring back souvenirs? Send post cards?
I don't send postcards, though I will sometimes buy them for the picture.  I try to get something for the grandsons.  When we went to Branson, we came back with an engineer's hat and whistle, that were a big hit.  I use to bring back something that would be appropriate for the Christmas tree, decorating in December would bring back memories for all of us.

SONDER April A to Z

Sonder:   in French it means to probe or survey and as such, it could be the basis for the definition above which came from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, a very interesting Tumblr in its own right.

On Live Oak St.- Mama Kat's

It has changed very little, except for all the walnut trees that have been cut down over the years.
I was born in July 1947, my folks moved into this house, just the month before. Seven years later my baby brother came along and we four lived there, until I married in 1967.  It was a typical post war neighborhood.  Lots of kids. Lots of fun.

The Oscar Goes to.... Boobies!/MKWW

It is easy to say that Seth MacFarlane was Not the Best Host, ever, but equally hard to say he was the Worst Host ever. I am not the audience they were going after with his selection, however to say I did not laugh would be incorrect.  I even laughed at the 7th grade boy humor of the Boobies Song and loved the sock puppets.  MacFarlane is certainly likable, but a lot of his humor is more palatable when coming out of the mouth of Stewie or Ted rather than IN YOUR FACE at the Oscars. Not as bad as Gervaise (who I also think is funny) He certainly pulled off the musical numbers, which I really enjoyed. I wish we could resurrect Bob Hope, he was sly, funny, topical and I don't think anyone came away from the event mad or insulted by him.
