Acting the Fool-Wednesday Hodgepodge

  1. What are two or three expectations you have of yourself? I am not sure what this question is all about.  At my age I am glad to wake up every morning, feeling okay.

2. In what way does your outdoor space need sprucing up this spring? We need to get rid of some hackberry bushes that are growing in the front of the house. Some pruning and some planting around the front steps.

3. According to this site (Roadtrippers), six of North America's most wondrous waterfalls are-Webster's Falls in Ontario, Upper Whitewater Falls in North Carolina, Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon, Multnomah Falls in Oregon, The Lower Yellowstone Falls, and Niagara.  Have you seen any on the list? Which one on the list would you most like to visit? Prettiest waterfall not on the list that you've seen in person? I have seen the Yellowstone falls and they are beautiful. I would love to see the Yosemite Falls in spring again.  The last time we were there, was in August, and it was a trickle.

4. Looking back, what's something you wish you'd done as a teenager? I wish I had better self-esteem, I think I would have expressed my self out loud, if I had been as outspoken as my girls.

5. Ham...yes please or no thank you? If you said yes please which of the following do you like best-baked ham with all the trimmings, a ham and cheese sandwich, prosciutto with melon, a ham biscuit, a bowl of split pea and ham soup, or a slice of pizza topped with ham and pineapple? NO, I don't like ham, Sam I am.

6. Are you typical of your generation? How so? I am a Baby Boomer and fairly typical. I grew up in the 50's. Wikipedia's definition:
  • Key characteristics: experimental, individualism, free spirited, social cause oriented.
It goes on to say: Starting in the 1980s, the boomers became more conservative, many of them regretting the cultural changes they brought in their youth.

I don't  necessarily agree with this statement. I am much more liberal than, say, Mr BC who was a war baby, and his cohorts here in the midwest. I just don't vocalize it, which has always been my problem, see question #4.

7. April rolls in at the end of the week, and in keeping with that theme...'act the fool', 'nobody's fool' 'a fool's errand', 'could have fooled me'...which foolish idiom most recently applies to you? I am nobody's fool, as regard to Donald Trumps politics.  And he has fooled me regarding his staying power in the GOP, I have been saying....this will be his downfall....several times during his campaign. And to my dismay....he comes back.  I just said it again this morning! I don't think it will be true. This has been a election period that could change the US, not for the good, because it is so ugly.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Enough seriousness, some puppies for your pleasure the last 2 are pictures of my silly Gwennie.

Lucky Me-Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What do you think about luck? I often say...that was lucky or what a lucky person...but I don't really believe in good luck or bad luck.  I think it is about timing or chance, good decisions or bad decisions.  We are more in charge of our good or bad 'luck' than we would think.

2. Not counting your own backyard, what's a favorite green space in your town, city, or state? We are to get a new park soon...Hooterville, just got some grants...It will have walking trails and such....and will be within close walking distance to our house.  Right now l love to go to King Jack Park in Webb City it has ponds, Canadian geese, and walking trails...the dogs love it.  Another place that is nice, is our local cemetery, it is old and very quiet and pretty and we often see wildlife there as well. Some wild turkeys flew away one time, when we were there.  There is one old tombstone that a tree has grown around it, we also have some graves from the GAR.

3. How do you make your life more complex than it needs to be? My memory is not as sharp as it was....also I don't open my mail as frequently, as I should.

4. I read here the three places you should visit with friends. They are-New York City, Hawaii, and Amsterdam (rent a bike, walk along the canal, visit one of their world class museums). I felt the need to expound on that one. Moving on...Of the three places listed which would you most like to visit with friends? What's one place not on the list you think should be visited with friends? Probably New York City...I have never been and would appreciate going with someone who has been there.  I would love to go to Savannah, GA. It has been on my list since I saw Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

5. What's the last live performance you saw? On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best) how would you rate it? Willie Nelson and a 10 for him, but a 6 or 7 for the venue. I was in the ballroom/showroom of one of the nearby Indian casinos and we sat in regular chairs lined up in rows, like a conference.  Not comfortable.

6. March 14th is National Potato Chip Day. Are you a fan? Your favorite flavor? Besides potato, what's your favorite chip type of snack? Chip snacks are to salty tasting to me, lately...not to mention salt is not good for you.  In old days, I like regular flavored chips.  Now I bake tortillas and break them up with dip.  No excess salt.

7. What rule is most important in your home? Be nice to my dogs....I love them more than I like you.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Well we voted today, (Tuesday afternoon) as I sit here, I still don't know for sure, who I think is the less of all the evils. I know there are people, even other politicians, who could do a better job than the slate of Republicans and Democrats, Mr BC and I had to chose from today. I didn't want to, but I really had to vote...or else I can't complain.

Sunday Stealing-Healthy

Healthy Meme
Stolen from: Love me some surveys

When was the last time you got a nose bleed? It has been a long time.
Do you keep magazines by your toilet? No

If you were a waiter/waitress, would you make good tips? Probably not, I tend toward dropping everything now days.
Have you ever stolen a road sign or traffic barrier? Never! Mr BC and a friend once snagged the keys out of a police car that was left with the motor running at a bar back when he was a wild and crazy guy.  We still have those somewhere.
What are the best kind of Girl Scout cookies? I like the short bread cookies.
When was the last time you purchased alcohol?  I bought some rubbing alcohol the other day....does that count?
Do you find it attractive when a guy actually shows his feelings? Yes, that is one of the things I noticed about Mr BC.

Are you a fussy eater? When I get on the scale.....I realize that I couldn't possibly be fussy. My dog is the fussy eater in our house.
List everything you ate and drank today: A cup of coffee and a chocolate cookie so far.  It is early and as I mentioned I am not fussy.  I have a bowl of cereal with my name on it for breakfast.
How are you sitting?  I have been sitting a lot all week....rain every day....right now I am leaning on one hip as my sitter is sore. I am going to lie down on the couch for a nap later.
Waiting for something? The rain to stop.
Do you like pretzels? They are OK.
Do you wait until you’ve completely finished a certain makeup product before you buy a new one? I only use lipstick, anymore.  I usually only have one color in my purse, so if I lose or misplaced it I have to buy again. I lost my one and only favorite somewhere in Paris....so I have a Parisian lip stick right now and it is almost gone.
Did you wake up before 8:00 a.m. this morning? Yep, six o'clock....I mean seven o'clock.  Spring forward.

Have you ever told anyone you were okay when you really weren’t? Of course. I keep telling everyone that, since Mr BC got sick.  I haven't always meant it. It has been hard.
Do you have reason to cry right now? No. I really am OK. Mr BC is so much better, he is driving again.

How many sodas a week do you have? I usually have a Sierra Mist in the afternoon.
Do you shop at Victoria’s Secret? No.  More like, Lane Bryant.  They have good bras there in Big Girls sizes.
Are you into sports? No
Can you easily touch your toes? No...
What did the last shoes you wore look like? Athletic shoes with my orthotic in it....I am such an old lady.
What do you currently hear? The Sunday Show, it is all about firearms this morning and there is a lot of gun shots.
Have you ever done yoga? Once upon a time when I didn't hurt so much.

Do you text a lot? I text only to my kids as that is one way I am certain to get an answer right away.
Do you have a fax machine at home? Yes, right now it isn't working because we don't have a land line. The house phone line is wireless and I am waiting for the contract to end so I can get it back working.  For some reason the fax part doesn't work wirelessly and of course since it isn't working I have had even more fax issues than I might normally have.
Do you know anyone who has diabetes? Oh yes.
Have you ever had to block anyone online? I want to hide people on FaceBook right now because of the election.  We have a primary this Tuesday.

Are you afraid of thunder and lightning? Not afraid, but sometimes it is really loud and makes me jump.  It is time for thunderstorms and tornadoes here in Missouri and I do fear tornadoes.
Are you a shop-a-holic? Mr BC says yes...laughing...but not really.
Are you healthy? For my age, I am generally healthy, but I have my share of aches and pains.
