That's Why God Made the Radio-Saturday 9

1. The Beach Boys are back together (everyone alive, Dennis and Carl have passed, including Brian) for the first time in 25 years. It's their 50th Anniversary tour. Their new single is called, “That's Why God made the Radio”. Did radio play a huge part of your growing up years?
Does this take me back?  Wow, 50th Anniversary tour, am I really that old?  I loved the Beach Boys, probably more than the Beatles if I am honest and I didn't even surf.  I remember Mr BC taking me to a football game at the Coliseum to see them at half time about 25 years ago.  The girls were not that impressed, but I was! The radio was the mainstay of my life, I can even remember when my cousin got a pink transistor portable radio, the size of a shoe box, I was so envious! To be able to take the radio from the house or the car, to the beach or some other spot would be great. KFWB and Bill Balance was my channel of choice, all rock and roll. Radio would come on the instant I woke up and would sing me to sleep at night.
2. What is something that you are disappointed about right now?
Didn't we just answer this question......?

3. What are you really anticipating right now?
Going back to California to see the grandsons. I don't look forward to the trip, just the destination.

4. When was the last time you watched your favorite movie? What is it?
My absolute favorite is the Big Chill and I watched it on DVD in August when we brought a load of our belongings to the house in MO.  We brought all of our DVDs and watched them since we had no cable or wireless connected in this house.  We listened to radio all day and watched movies in the evening. We got a lot done on that trip.

5. If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be?
Now this question is really bizarre. The 2 dead Beach Boys maybe. Zombies would really make for good concert going.

6. Who was the last person you hung up on?
I eventually hang up on everyone I speak to on the phone. Hee hee, probably Mr BC.

7. Does it bother you when meme makers separate questions that could have been combined?
????? are we running out of things to ask on Saturdays? No, only misspelled words bother me. ;0)

8. What is the first animal you would run to see if you went to the zoo?
Koala Bears and Pandas.

9. What is the food you always buy at the grocery store that you can't live without?
Peanut Butter the perfect food. I have one jar open, two on the shelf, and individual snack sizes to take on the trip to CA.

Road Trip

DD2 and I made a road trip to Sedalia MO, she had a job interview and I went along for the ride. If she gets/takes the job, it would mean relocating, but it would be a job in her field of study and that would be important for her future career in behavior/social work. So it could mean she won't even unpack here.

Sedalia is north, between Kansas City and St Louis, not far from Columbia and the state capital, Jefferson City.  It has a population of about 21,000 and is the site of the Missouri State Fair and the Scott Joplin Ragtime festival. From 1866–1874 it rapidly grew because of the railroad and cattle.
Ohio Street
We drove the historical downtown area where they seem to be restoring some of the great buildings of the era. Sedalia has a number of building on the National Register of Historical Places.

While she was busy, I went to the City Tourist Center/Chamber of Commerce to get some information for her about the town and picked up a newspaper.  She finished the interview and we drove around a little. She was very relieved the interview was over and thought she felt she did well, they didn't reveal their hand any, so she will have to wait to find out more.
Our Googled directions had taken us there on two lane highways, I presume to keep us from going too far north of Kansas City to cut across, which would have been my choice. We took Highway 50  back, through Kansas City and decided to treat ourselves to a Trader Joe's visit which is 90 minutes from Sedalia but close to 2.5 hours from where we live in Southwestern MO.  TJ's Joplin...... if you build it, we would come.

We arrived home, after dark, with the all the bugs of MO splattered across DD2 VW new Beetle and 4 Trader Joe's bags full of our favorites. That really made the day.

'Til I Hear It From You-Saturday 9

1. If someone, that you trusted, told you that your lover was cheating, would you believe them or not?
I would not believe it. I am not sure that I trust anyone that much, other than Mr BC, and he better not cheat!

2. What is something that you are disappointed about right now?
I am disappointed that I did not win the lottery, but I guess you have to buy a ticket to win.

3. Jonathan Frid, who was the original Barnabas Collins on Dark Shadows from 1967-1971, passed away in Canada at the age of 87. Who is your favorite vampire?
I never watched the soap, I didn't get home from school in time.  However, Frank Langella - in 1979's DRACULA was hot and I always think of him as the best vampire of all time. I thought George Hamilton played a great campy vampire, and Spike, of Buffy fame, was good too.

4. Should there be age limits on social networking sites such as Facebook?
Sure, but parents should be keeping a close watch on where their kids go on the Internet, ultimately.

5. Tell us about your pets. Do you have one that you wish would run away?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! See Thursday's post.

6. Do you ever have a hard time with morals?
No, well maybe when I was a teenager and raging hormones would get mixed up with morals.

7. Did you make 'a plan' the first time you made love or did it just happen?
Of course it was planned, after the wedding. I am sticking to that story!

8. Do you agree that fame is lousy or would you love to give it a try? Why?
It depends on how fame is won and whether one is famous or infamous. It can seem that someone who is famous leads a charmed life and their fame makes  others
envious, BUT, Fame rarely works out well in the long run.  I would rather be rich than famous.

9. Do you believe in forever, as in 'love forever'?
It is a nice sentiment, however in real life, even in enduring marriages, love comes and goes, changes and then comes back again.

What Would Gwennie Do?

I chose prompt #4 today at Mama Kat's.  List 7 things your pet thought about today.

 1. “Good morning Gwennie, do you want to go outside?”  Says I.
Gwennie: ‘Yes, Yes, wiggle wiggle, I love going outside.” “Totem do you want to go outside?” Wiggle, wiggle. Sniff sniff.   “Me first!”  Wiggle, wiggle.

2. “Who’s  hungry?”
Gwennie: “Me mommy, me mommyI  Grrrr, don’t even think about it Totem.  My food!  I love food “
 3. When finished with her food.
Gwennie:  “Was your food good, Totem?  It certainly looks good. You finished Totem?  You’re finished right?  Looks like you are finished, Yum, yours was good too.  What? He was finished Mommy. ”

4. I get up from my chair, with my laptop (plate, magazine, etc) in my hand.
Gwennie, shrinking away.  “Oh, Mommy, danger, danger, that could fall on me, watch out Mommy.  Daddy, mommy is going to drop something on me. Danger”

5.  Any paper rattling sound.
Gwennie, brown eyes smiling:  “Is that a treat, I love treats. Sounds like a treat.  What’s that in your hand Daddy? Oh, ice cream (sandwich, cookie etc) , I love ice cream.  Can’t you tell by my sad brown eyes that I am so hungry?  Totem, help me with this.”

6. Me walking within 2 feet of her, with the laundry basket.
Gwennie shrinking away again:  “Oh no, a basket of knives and acid, go away.  Oh my.......... Mommy has a basket of snakes and alligators, danger, danger!”

7. Gwennie flat on her back on the floor, legs in the air:  “Oh how I would love someone to scratch my tummy and chest, Mom, Dad, where are you?  I’m so cute like this, I am sure you would like to scratch my tummy, I love tummy rubs. How can you resist?  Ahhhhhh!”

Monday Morning

I have a busy week ahead of me, coming after a lovely weekend with two skype visits with my grandsons. #1 was stung by a bee last week and he was sad because it hurt.  He is in the process of getting toys back for everyday he is nice to his caretaker, apparently he was rude and Mommy took toys away.  The first day they called (last week), the playroom shelves were empty, she even took the table top from his Thomas the Train table.  It apparently worked, since Saturday all the toys were back, and hadn't been taken again.  DD1 says that he is a threen'ager so he needs follow through when she makes a threat. Lots of talkback. #2 is just adorable and growing so fast. He has such big eyes and takes everything in.  This week I will ge getting ready to go see them. Hopefully, we leave next weekend.  I miss them so much.

DD2 and I are going to drive together on Tuesday, to Sedalia, MO for her job interview, it should make the drive easier.  It is about 3 hours. We will come back that same day. We have almost finished all the cut-in painting on the rental house, and took the smelly carpeting out in preparation for the installation of the new on Wednesday. After mopping the floor, it really smelled better in the house.  I am going back today to see if it is still smelling good and maybe mop again if needed.  Then we have to move her stuff out of our garage and trailer so we can go back to California. This should be the last trip for stuff.  The next trip after should be to get his TR3 and haul it back, and to drive my car back.  We have been getting along fine with just the truck, so I am going to approach Mr BC about just selling my car.

Ain't too Proud to Beg-Saturday 9

1. What was the last thing that you begged for?
Today, I have been begging Gwennie, my Corgi, to come out from under the bed during the current thunderstorm to go outside (to relieve herself) she is so scared.  It is pitiful.

2. Have you ever lost a best friend after a fight?
No. as I have grown up, many good friends and I have just grow apart, or moved away. Distance tends to separate friendship. The exception is Jim and Maggie we have been friends with Mr BC and me for eons and we finally live in the same town.

3. When was the last time you just wanted to be invisible?
I would love to be invisible and be able to go places the public can't go, backstage in museums, libraries, palaces, the White House etc. I would love to be invisible every time I ever embarrased myself.

4. Which room of your home tends to be the messiest?
The bedroom right now.  There are boxes of stuff everywhere and every flat surface has something on it. I thought I pared down my stuff before I moved but I still have too many clothes, shoes and accessories. It has been hard giving up my work clothes, but I find I don't really need them.

5. You are to be locked in a room forever with a celebrity. You get to choose. Who do you pick?
John Stewart, he is so funny and laughing would make the time go by.  We would have to have some access to the outside, so that he could keep up on current events.

6. Has someone ever left another person to be with you?
Nope neither have I.

7. What’s been kind of a drag for you lately?
Painting the rental property and doing my taxes.  I hate to paint and I hate getting stuff together to do the taxes.

8. How are you different from your (current or most recent) significant other?
I am an optimistic and upbeat person and Mr BC tends to the melancholic  side. It has worked OK for us for over 40 years.

9. What is the most perverted thing someone has ever said to you?
One time I was called a C**T by a customer over the phone.

Work Continues

I have not been able to post for my writing blogs lately because DD2 and I have been getting the rental property we have, ready for her to move in.  We were happy to find out that she really liked the house and feels she can live there.  She came to MO sight unseen.

We have been painting with her colors, and she chose some good ones.  We were almost knocked out by cat smells when we first walked in, so carpeting was first on the list of things that need to go.  I dread pulling it up, I have to go get some face masks so we can stay healthy while we are doing it.  Last night I spent some time taping the baseboards and I came home with itchy eyes, from sitting too near the carpet. This will be only the second time we are renting the property, and I have told DD2 no pets, and the dogs can only come in for short visits.

The last tenant was someone who Mr BC knew from school, she had lost her home in the Joplin tornado, and was having trouble finding a place to stay where she could have her pets, she had 2 cats and 2 dogs, so we took pity and rented to her.  I had not seen the inside of the house until they moved out.  Mr BC said the carpet did not smell like that before they moved in, but since it was so old and needed to be replaced anyway (really cheap and very ugly) we did not give her a hard time about the state of the carpet.  We just bit the bullet. I am not sure after DD2 moves out that I really want to be a landlord.  Since we inherited it, I would like to flip it.  But he owns it with his sister, so for now we are all landlords.

The latest.......DD2 has a interview near Kansas City for a job in her field on Tuesday, so plans could change. However, work continues.

I Must Be Seeing Things-Saturday 9

1. Have you ever watched something unfold, that as you watched, you could not believe what you've witnessed?\
Not surprisingly 9/11.

2. What is your favorite city in the world? Why?
London, I was able to visit DD2 there when she was taking a semester abroad.  We had such a good time together.  I want to take Mr Bankerchick back.

3. What is the strangest film, to your sense of reality, that you have ever seen?
Any Felini movie, they were too strange for words. I went because they were suppose to be art and sophisticated, they were just weird.

4. It seems that the older that you get, the less you want the hassle of seeing a live concert. Who is an artist or a band that you'd actually pay to see?
I wish the Dixie Chicks were still around, I would pay to see them.

5. When was the last time that you lost your temper?
This week!

6. When you were little, did you think "sex" was a bad word?
Not really, I thought "sleeping" with someone was stupid, not much sleeping going on. Some of the classics use the term lover and making love as a synonym for romancing so when I read it when I was younger I sometimes thought they were doing the deed.

7. What does your smart phone do that really surprised you when you loaded the app?
Nothing surprises me about smart phones, but I love to be able to make same day motel reservations on our trips back and forth to CA and MO.

8. Have you ever been attracted to someone that you should not have been? (Feel free to take this lame question any way that you please.)
Sure, I am not dead yet! I am usually attracted to guys with a British accent, they don't necessarily have to be attractive.

9. Will you see the new "The Three Stooges" film?
No, I hated the originals.  The are a guy thing.  My husband thinks the originals are funny, he might see it, if it comes to TV.
