Saturday 9: Just Like a Pill and a Little More

1. What was the last pill your doctor prescribed? Why?
Simcor, I have a hard time with my cholesteral. I hate it, sometimes I wake up burning.  I take an asprin that is suppose to minimize it, Simcor has niacin in it.

2. How well do you swim?
I swim very well and love swimming, I just don't get a chance to anymore.

3. Who has a big mouth that you like?
My dog Totem.  We refer to him as Tardis Mouth,  he is a small dog that when he yawns his mouth is wider than he is long.  In human terms Julia Roberts has a big mouth, size wise.  If we are talking big mouths that spout big talk, there are too many to mention.
4. Do you believe in political correctness?
This is tough! I think Americans have become so polarized there is no civility any more. I also think we could do with tougher skin about what we consider not correct.

5. Do you ever patronize people?
I hope not, occasionally DD2 accuses me of being patronizing.  I call it not getting hooked. I don't really like confrontation.

6. Do you or someone you know strive constantly to be perfect?
One should always strive to be better in our lives, however, I do not achieve it by a long shot. Perfection is not possible for anyone.

7. What song are you totally sick of and why?
People?? I guess, maybe. I don't get sick of music usually.

8. How old were you when you got cocky? Or did you never go there?
Maybe in my 50's?  I remember saying one time, "I could do this in my sleep", in reference to my job. Then everything changed.

9. When you compete with someone, have you ever gotten hostile?
No, I am not very competitive.

We have spent the last week, trying to rest up from our move.  We have one more trip to make back to CA to pick up one more load.  We had to place some stuff in storage and our trailer was probably overloaded this trip.  We sold our house, it was a miracle.  The buyer was someone who  lived in our condo complex and he offered to buy it "as is". No inspection, no termite inspection, no remodeling, and no staging.  Then on the day after Escrow had closed, another unit went on the market, just like ours, for $20 thousand less than ours. (not sure of its shape).  This guy would have probably stopped escrow and been willing to lose his deposit, if it had happened before escrow had closed.  For once a house sale worked in our favor. We took the money and ran!

It has been hot, hot, here, and we had to fix our air conditioning, but it was not too expensive.  I also bought a new washer and dryer, the one we inherited with the house was sooo old...everytime I washed something in it...I kept expecting it to break.  DD2 called while we were in CA and told us about both the AC and the washer.  I haven't had a W/D that matched for years.

Despite the heat we are glad to be here, mortgage free, and back with the puppies.  We are going to unload the trailer now that we have rested and start making this place a little more comfortable.

Ch..Ch...Changes-Saturday 9

1. Do you believe people can truly change?
I believe that people can modify their behavior, they can stop smoking, lose weight, etc. However, it is not possible to change who you are, you can have the appearance of change, that could be longlasting.

2. Do you think there is anything wrong with being average?
No.  It is who you are.  I believe that everyone has something that is exceptional about them.

3. Do you believe in fairy tale love?
I believe in fairy tale infatuation.

4. Has anyone ever spread something malicious about you?
I don't think so....I think people have said something untrue about me.

5. Have you ever done something at a party that you've ever regretted?
Oh yes, every time I ever was intoxicated when I was young and reckless. Once, I passed out at my own party....in the bathroom. I think I fell asleep.

6. How do you go about setting your goals?
I generally start a savings account.

7. Do you believe you deserve everything you want?
Sure, my wants are so simple.

8. Do you have people in your life you could always count on?
Mr BC and the dogs.  I like to think the rest of the family too.
9. Did you ever make a close friend from someone that you've dated?
Yes, when I was in High School. See here.

What to do in June-Mama Kat's Writers Workshop

I have been so busy the past few months, that I have neglected my blog. I still read my favorites and try to comment when I can. I checked out Momma Kat's Writers Workshop today and saw a prompt that I can whip out quickly. I chose  Ten To-Dos in June. (inspired by Denise) The first on my list will be:

1.  Close escrow on our house, finish packing and get out of California. This will take up the first half of June.

2. Arrive in Missouri and be mugged by the puppies.  I have been gone for over a month.  I miss them so much.

3.  Find a doctor and dentist in our new town.  I need to have prescriptions refilled and since I swallowed a crown that fell off last month get it replaced, with the new dentist.

4.  Wave good-by and good luck to DD2 who will be moving into her own house.  She has been living with us for quite a while, as she was completing her degree.  She has actually moved in but has been house-sitting for us with the puppies.

5. Run around the house naked.....if I want... and express my own opinions, without getting into a long discussion of how wrong I am.

6.  Watch some television.  I have been without cable and TV since I've been in CA. We turned it off in November and moved the TV to Missouri.  I did leave the WIFI on so we could watch Netflix.

7.  Start unpacking some of our possessions, move out some of my MIL possessions that we have been living with while waiting for my own stuff. Enjoy the new couch we will bring with us from this trip.  Enjoy having our garage back, once the unpacking is done.

8.  Take the pups to a new vet, to get Gwennies teeth cleaned and get heartworm prevention. (we did not have to worry about this in our old home)

9.   Plan a week of vacation for July with the RV.

10.  Really start enjoying our new home and living mortgage free!  Maybe we can start enjoying our retirement!

Saturday 9-What the heck is a Crown of Creation?

1. Do you understand a belief model based on creationism?
Not really.  Although I can understand why creationists want to promote it.  It allows them to rationalize science to their belief system.  I would not like it taught right along side of evolution.

2. Is your house run more like a dictatorship or a democracy?
Mr BC would say benign dictatorship....but I believe it is a true democracy.

3. Are you likely to forgive a transgression and give someone a second chance?
Yes, and I have done that!

4. Is religion a big part of your life?
No, I am a humanist. I can't be an atheist because I am just not sure if there was someone is up there stirring the pot. I haven't been to church since the kids were small and have a real problem with christian fundamentalism, in which I was raised. There are a couple of hot topics in this Sat9.  Please do not pray for me and my opinions.

5. Do you feel your job (or your spouse's if you work at home) is safe?
When we worked our jobs were intrinsically safe.... banking and auto industry. Wait! Do you mean safe, safety-wise or do you mean safe from lay-offs?  Mr BC was laid off twice but landed on his feet eventually.  I kept wishing they would lay me off with a package the last 2 years, but I was safe to retirement.

6. Do you believe in gay marriage? Why?
Yes.  Marriage is a legal entity not religious though the Church has taken it over as theirs.  The gay folk I know want the same rights as the married. In my opinion, Civil Unions might be an ok compromise in the short term.

7. Do you think the current U.S. war will lead to a more peaceful world?
Nope! war has never led to a peaceful world.

8. Do you like people with swagger?
If the swagger comes from confidence it is ok.  But if it comes from a huge ego....not so much.

9. What kind of budget do you live on, is it tight or carefree?
Right now it is a little on the snug side and will never be carefree....we are retired.  We are about to be mortgage free and that could allow us to be comfortable and still save for some traveling that we would like to do.
