Memorial Day-Saturday 9

Memorial Day was introduced to honor the men and women who died while serving the in the United States Armed Forces. We want to make sure that message is not forgotten this weekend.

The Star Spangled Banner

1) Are you a veteran? Are there veterans in your family? (We are grateful and want to hear about it.) Mr BC was in the Navy when I met and married him and we move to shore duty in Key West.  This was during the Viet Nam war.  He had spent some time, before I met him, in the Gulf of Tonkin.  My Dad was in WW2.

2) Memorial Day also kicks off the summer season. What's your favorite picnic food? I would have to say, my Father in law's fried chicken.

3) Let's celebrate the Memorial Day holiday with ice cream. What's your favorite flavor?  I am currently on a frozen yogurt binge.  I like the Ben and Jerry's brand.  Any flavor!

4) This marks the weekend when Americans step up their outdoor activity and do things they may not have been able to do during the winter months. For example, when is the last time you rode a bike? It was a long time ago that I rode a bike for any distance.  Maybe when the kids were in scouts. I actually like a bike and now that we have the RV, we are looking for a bike for me.

5) Or went hiking? I consider most walks with the dogs as a, recently.
6) Or rode a horse? On my cruise to Mexico....on the beach.  Several years ago.  It was a lot of fun and the girls enjoyed it.
7) Or toasted a marshmallow? On a trip to Yosemite with DD1 and SIL before they were married.  We made s'mores.

8) As you answer these questions, is there an air conditioner or window fan on? Yes, the fan...It is pretty still this morning, in the house, as the storm windows are still on. We have only a couple of windows open yet.  We have had the a/c on already, a couple of times, mainly because of humidity.

9) Crazy Sam needs your help: What song or a performer would you like to see featured in a Saturday 9 this summer? Macy Gray, Joss Stone, Norah Jones. Some of their songs should lend themselves to questions.

  1. I've never actually tried frozen yogurt but I'm told it's just as tasty as ice cream!

  2. I sometimes can get away with eating frozen yogurt. Good suggestions for groups, I enjoy Norah Jones

  3. MMMMMMMMM love me some fro-yo! :) Key West is one of my favorite places. Go figure - that and Seattle - opposite corners! :) Have a great weekend!

  4. My problem with s'mores is that I never know when to stop.

  5. Walks with dogs are absolutely considered hikes.
