Oh! Papa- Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Oh! My Papa (1954)

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.

1) Eddie Fisher starred in a popular 1950s TV show, which was sponsored by Coca Cola. Do you have a favorite soft drink? I am currently fond of Diet Sierra Mist mixed with cran/pom juice.  I drink a lot of Ice tea/coffee too.

2) He was notorious for leaving his famous first wife for his very famous second wife. Can you name either of the women involved in this Hollywood scandal? Debbie Reynolds and Liz Taylor..Big scandal at the time.  They didn't stay together too long once Richard Burton came along.  When Angelina Jolie snagged Brad Pitt, it reminded me of it.  Especially when they painted 'poor' Jennifer Anniston in the 'poor' Debbie roll.

3) His oldest daughter, Carrie Fisher, is best known as Princess Leia from Star Wars. Are you a sci-fi fan? Oh yes, I love Sci-Fi  especially with the special effects that a possible now.  I always liked that mankind had improved so much in the Star Trek world.  I would go to Mars to live, if I could take my dogs.

4) Since Sam's father is particular about his footwear and likes "a good pair of Cole Haan loafers," her Father's Day present to him is a DSW gift card. If we were to give you a gift card to any store or restaurant, which would you choose?Well, Mr BC would like a Camping World card or Lowes card.  I would like a T J Maxx card.

5) Sam's father hates it when she swears. When is the last time your cursed?
I probably said S*** sometime yesterday.

6) Sam's father is a voracious reader. So much so that the local librarian knows him on sight and by name. How often do you visit your neighborhood library? I am a kindle user and haven't been to the library in a long time.  Our closest library is a refurbished Carnegie Library.

Webb City MO
7) "A good used car is a better investment than a new car." That's what Sam's dad tells her when she's in the market for wheels. Share some other words of financial wisdom with us.

8) Every car her father has ever owned had a pro-union bumper sticker. Do you have any bumper stickers on your vehicle? We don't have any bumper stickers, but we do name all of our vehicles.  Mr BC is trying to think of a good name for the '61 TR-3 he is finally having restored.  Mr BC names all of our cars

9) To celebrate Father's Day, Sam is giving away her father's favorite candy: LifeSavers. Would you prefer a roll of Wild Cherry, Butter Rum, Winter Green or Peppermint? Butter Rum

  1. What a happy spin to having an "outstanding" bill! And your Angelina is to Liz as Brad is to Eddie and Jen is to Debbie fits so well

  2. I agree - great analogy! I have named all of my cars as well. :) You have to make them personal to you - otherwise they're just metal, plastic and rubber

  3. I've been mixing other flavors in my Sierra mist lately too. Crystal like works well also.

  4. I always loved the Star Trek world, too. People weren't interested in stuff, they were interested in self-exploration as well as universal exploration. It was about the learning and living, not the acquiring and commercialism. I don't think that world will ever be, though.

  7. I like Marshalls and TJ Maxx but we don't have a TJ Maxx very close so I go to Marshalls more. The juice and pop sounds like a good summer drink.

  8. I picked Butter Rum, too. I don't know why; it just sounded good. I don't know if I've ever been in a TJ Maxx but I'm seeing it in a lot of folks' answers this week> Guess I better check it out!
