Shop Tiii I Drop? Friday Fragments

The dogs are going to the groomers today so I will go shopping at Ross and TJ Maxx as I do.....They are in the same area.  I don't need anything and I might not buy much but I love those stores.

I have lived in all the zones except for the Mystery Belt, the Bears Only and Murder Mountains.

On a more serious note:

I didn't get vaccinated because they weren't discovered, though I did get vaccinated for smallpox and polio.  It was the times and I had both kinds of measles when they spread through my school. I was very sick.

My kids were vaccinated at the appropriate times because they weren't allowed in kindergarten without them and I was grateful for modern medicine.  Those who didn't have their shots were rare and usually had some immune issues, The were protected because the other kids had been immunized.  I don't understand why parents would choose to have vaccinations or not for their kids.  It is sad to see measles make a comeback, when it is so easily prevented and the autism issue has been debunked.

How I Should Have Spent My Vacation

I would love to say that our vacation to Santa Barbara was an unqualified success.....but that would be painting too rosy of a picture.  The Boys, including my son-in law were in the middle of a virus.....that just kept giving.  SIL brought it home from Florida, the previous week.  Two days later DD1 came down with it and was hit harder than the grandsons.  Then Caшa, who had seemed to be improving, got an ear infection, so off we went to Urgent Care.  Everyone would have a good day then the next.....be really congested, or coughing.....Grandma and Grandpa Bankerchick came down with it the second week  and all bets for fun, were off.  Gratefully the Au Pair never got it...so we all got ....some... rest.  But it put a damper on the plans for the visit

I love the website ZooBorns.  Every day there is a new post of baby animals that have been born in Zoos, and what can be better than BABY ANIMALS? The interwebz is just full of baby animals and I find and save the cute pictures and there they sit in my files.  But, no longer I will put them on my blog so everyone can enjoy them.

My post for today is about the website ZOOBORN.  I love this site, every day there is a post about baby animals just born to an accredited zoo somewhere in the world. What better way to end the 2013 April A to Z than with baby animals?

Lots of interesting things going on in the animal world this week.

The Santa Barbara Zoo, one of my favorite ones, sadly reported the news that Gemina, their oldest and most beloved Giraffe, passed away today. Gemina was known far and wide for her crooked neck, died of old age at 21. She was one of the most popular exhibits at the zoo. The crooked neck was a defect that had nothing to do with her death, and reportedly caused her no ill effects. Every time we went to the zoo we took the long walk to the back of the zoo to see her and the other Giraffe's in their enclosure. She will be missed. Up the coast near San Simeon, north of Santa Barbara, elephant seals are colonizing the beaches. This is a comeback, after nearly being hunted to extinction. It seems a male elephant seal has crossed Highway 1, and has taken up lodging in a large puddle and authorties are worried that he might get too comfy in his new habitat to head back to the beach.
