A Chat on the Porch

1.  Please tell me the three most valuable things you learned as a child or young person.
That ultimately life is not fair so you make the best of it.
My mom and dad knew more than I thought they did.
Always Flush.
2.  Did you participate in Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
I did order something for Christmas online. See my last post for my feelings about Black Friday.
3.  Do you pray? I bow my head when others pray.  I prayed as a kid, and though I question all the time, I do find myself beseeching the great unknown, in times of trouble, (Like when Mr BC was having an angiogram last week, all is well) so I guess I do pray.
4.  Have you been invited to any parties to celebrate Christmas or New Year? I am going to CA on Dec 17, for a weeklong moving party, with DD1, when they move into their first home. I will spend the day after Christmas with my brother and his family.  No specific party, though.
5.  Have you ever owned cowboy boots or a cowboy hat? (A cowboy? Tee-hee :) Just had to throw that one in for fun!)  I had a Cowboy hat and boots when I was little and have a picture of it somewhere.

  1. Moms and Dads do know more than we know. It's a shame we have to learn this the hard way. Unfortunately, kids seem to be prone to testing the water for themselves to see if that mystery holds true. Try as we may, we told our children that if they listened to our life's lessons & apply it to their own lives then they would come out ahead. Did they? Nope. The school of hard knocks is the preferred choice it seems. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I got rid of my cowboy boots when I stopped going dancing, but I miss them sometimes. Especially when I am out walking in the tall grass!

Such a hard lesson to live as a child.

  6. So glad that Mr. BC's tests are all good. That is a relief I'm sure. I bet you are counting down the days to CA. What fun to be there to help with the move. I, too, moved into my first house just days before Christmas.

  7. I didn't realise Mr BC had so recently had an angiogram. I am so pleased the results were good. I didn't take part in the cyber Monday and it's as well I didn't... it was very chaotic, I believe, and caused loads of technical problems here.

  8. Hi, Bankerchick! I am replaying to your question about Santa Barbara. I absolutely LOVE it there, and we had a great time. Long walks from Goleta Beach, surfing off the shore by the UCSB campus, movies, margaritas, and a trip to Trader Joe's, where we stock up on wine (which is really heavily taxed and expensive in Utah). Have fun!

  10. I got two pairs of cowboy boots on a visit to Nashville a couple of years ago. Actually there was an offer at the store of buy one pair get two pairs free so I persuaded MWM to buy himself a pair and I got two pairs free!
