Jingle Bell Rock-Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Jingle Bell Rock

1) Sam has affection for this song because, when she was very young, she tap-danced to it for a Christmas recital. Her parents told her she was wonderful. Do you have any memories from a school/church program or pageant -- either as a child onstage or an adult in the audience?
I remember the first Christmas Program where we sang only secular songs and did not have a Nativity Scene.  At the time I didn't really understand why and wished we were singing the old standards.  I remember that was the year we learned Silver Bells, a song I love this time of year.

2) Ok, she admits it: After too many cups of holiday cheer, Sam did a few steps of her "Jingle Bell Rock" routine at last year's company Christmas party. Have you ever done anything at a coworker get together that you now regret?
Sort of....I remember telling a story of someone, I dated in college, and that poor Hungarian man became the butt of teasing, for years after.  It wasn't even a naughty story...just funny.  I learned not to over share at work.

3) Since that unfortunate Christmas 2012 incident, Sam can't even look at a cup of egg nog. How about you? Do you like egg nog? I really like eggnog, especially with a drop of adult beverage in it

4) For special events, Sam slips on her favorite piece of jewelry: a charm bracelet that once belonged to her grandmother. Do you have a special treasure from a previous generation?
I have a piece of amber that has been set for a necklace that was my mom's.

5) The only Christmas card Sam has received so far in 2013 is from her insurance agent. How about you? Have any holiday cards arrived yet? We have a single Card, I don't send cards any more, but I try to return a card if I get one.  Since I am leaving Tuesday, I need to get on it.

6) Because of the chill in the air, Sam gave her dog his Christmas gift -- a sweater -- early this year. He's already gotten compliments on it. Are there any pets on your gift list?
Gwennie and Totem have their gifts already,  they both got a new collar and we got a bed for Gwen that we are trying to get her to use.

7) Do you need snow to get "into the spirit?" No, having lived in CA we never got it.  We have had some snow already and might get it this year, which would be nice, as last nights rain dissolved the majority of it.

8) Are you going to get/have you gotten a flu shot this year? We got it last week.

9) December is an important fundraising month for charities. Here's your chance to plug a worthy cause that means a lot to you. The Humane Society.

  3. I too love "Silver Bells" at this time of year. In sixth grade, we performed it on actual bells, the kind where each person was one bell, and then just clang it when it's their turn. I remember I was the A bell which was a gray bell, and that I hardly got to ring mine.

  5. "... soon it will be Christmas Day ...." Now I hear Andy Williams in my head. (Which is really nice this time of year.)

  7. It's ages since I had egg nog... had almost forgotten that. I haven't forgotten a tale I once told but wish I had! I still blush when I think of it.

Long ago I had my father's ornate watch fob turned into a pendant. I still treasure it.
