This Momma Does Dance-Saturday9

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here

1) This song is about how the older generation often doesn't understand what the younger generation is up to. Do you keep up with trends? Not as much as when I was working I had to keep up somwhat.  I do enjoy lurking the many Tumblrs and Imgur type of web sites.  I am not cool enough to want to post, but I enjoy the creativity.

 2) This song was in the top 10 in 1972, which is also the year HBO was introduced. Do you have any premium cable channels? No, but I do use Netflix and Hulu. And Amazon Prime for pay for view. DD2 put HBOgo on Roku for us but, it loads so slowly we haven't been interested or patient enough to watch anything.

3) Mother Winters taught Sam how to kill the lingering food smells in her microwave (take a bowl of water, add a few drops of vanilla extract, and heat it in the microwave). Do you have any useful household hints to pass along? I found this originally on a life hack tumblr.

4) The French word for "mother" is "mère." What other French words do you know? I took French a long time ago for several years....while I don't try to converse in it, I can read enough of it to get along very basically. If I were to go to France, practice would help me get around.

5) Flowers and plants are popular on Mother's Day. How is your yard or garden? Is it green and/or blooming? Well it is green and blooming in some spots thanks to Grandma for planting bulbs when she lived here.
6) Mother's Day is a big holiday for card shops. So are birthdays, weddings, and St. Patrick's Day. Hallmark sells greetings for everything from "Congratulations on Your New Job" to "Happy Retirement." Who received the most recent card you bought? I don't send a lot of cards so consequently I don't get many.  I sent a e-card the last time I sent a card.

7) Have you put away your winter clothes yet? Yes, I hung all the coats and hanging stuff, in the closet, in the loft.  The rest of the stuff is on the way.

They are in a basket on the landing of the stairs.

8) Mother Winters used to scold Sam for leaving her dirty dishes in the sink. Sam admits it: as a grown up, she's still a bit of a slob. Do lean toward "neat" or "messy?" More to messy clutter.

9) To celebrate Mother's Day, Sam is giving away candy bars. Would you prefer classic milk chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate with almonds? I like dark chocolate with nuts.

  2. I like dark chocolate too. Not so much the nuts, though.

  3. I use Amazon and Netflix. Hulu drives me crazy with all of their commercials.

  6. I used to have a lot of household tips... one I remember from water shortage days - any left-over hot water in the kettle should go into a flask to use later. I must try and resurrect my tips list.

  7. I got my brother and sister-in-law turned on to Netfixs. The cottage doesn't have any TV so the only thing we can watch are over the internet.

  8. I have most of the cable channels and mostly watch those shows than regular cable. But I don't blame you with the slow loading...that drives me nuts!
I love bulb flowers, but don't get it together early enough to plant them in time for spring. I hear there was another big wave of snow this weekend...did you have to take your coats back out? :)
