Blue Christmas-Saturday 9

1) Do you ever suffer the blues during the holidays?
Oh yes, sometimes due to a lack of money for gifts.  In 2004 my mom passed away on the 23rd of December and Christmas was not really happening that year and was subdued until the Grandson arrived.  Christmas is really the kiddies holiday.

2) More than 18 million visitors have toured Elvis' home, Graceland. Have you ever been there?
It would not be a pilgrimage for me to go see Graceland.  If we were to visit Mr BC's cousins who live in Memphis, we would certainly visit Graceland too.

3) Elvis dyed his naturally light brown locks black. Do you dye your hair?
Not anymore, I quit dyeing before I retired, just to see how gray my hair really was and decided I was graying nicely, so I didn't dye any more. Once it goes completely white, I might brighten it with color.

4) He also insisted his young girlfriend, Priscilla, dye her hair jet black. If your lover asked you to change your hair, would you?
Never did; Never would.

5) Elvis served his country at an Army base in Friedberg, Germany. Have you ever been to Germany?
Mr BC is of German descent so if we make it to Europe, I am sure we would try to get to Germany.  We have other places that are higher on the Travel List, we would like to see first.

6) Elvis famously had an affair with Ann-Margret during the filming of Viva Las Vegas. Have you ever indulged in a dalliance with a coworker?
Nope.

7) Thinking of his movies ... Elvis was, by and large, unhappy with his film career and once said, "The only thing worse than watching a bad movie is being in one." Are you happy with the way your career is going/has gone?
I achieved some success as a Bankerchick.  I am now retired and happy!

8) Elvis lost "the battle of the bulge" toward end of his life. Are you happy with your weight?
I have lost the battle, but I have not totally surrendered the fight.

9) As a teenager, Elvis worked as an usher at a movie theater. What was your first job?
I delivered dinner trays at a nursing home then picked them up and took them to the kitchen. I walked over after school, workedl until about 7:00 pm.  I was 15 and my dad or mom picked me up.

  1. A friend of mine's mom died on Christmas Day several years ago and it's still a chore for him to get in the Xmas spirit because of those memories. Money and unexpected gift requirements are a hard part of Xmas. I never associated that with my mood, but that certainly can contribute can't it.

  2. I've lost the weight battle and surrendered to it. It is liberating. As long as I'm healthy otherwise.

  6. I love your answers on weight and hair. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt, but I do dye it occasionally, although I probably don't really need to..

  7. I married at Christmas so there is a double celebration. Elvis didn't play much of a part in my life ... I didn't even know he'd gone to fat in his latter days. The questions are definitely educational.
