Daddy's Back Saturday 9

If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.
1) Crazy Sam's dad often traveled for business, and always remembered to bring her the little complimentary soaps or body lotions he got from the hotel. When you travel, do you bring back souvenirs? Send post cards?
I don't send postcards, though I will sometimes buy them for the picture.  I try to get something for the grandsons.  When we went to Branson, we came back with an engineer's hat and whistle, that were a big hit.  I use to bring back something that would be appropriate for the Christmas tree, decorating in December would bring back memories for all of us.

2) When you fly, do you prefer window or aisle? Or doesn't it matter?
I prefer aisle so I don't have to crawl over anyone.  That leaves the center seat and window seat for passenger to feel bad for inconveniencing me.
3) According to Askmen.com, Jim Anderson (Robert Young) of Father Knows Best is the best TV dad ever. Who is your favorite TV (or movie) dad?
From my childhood, I kind of liked Ozzie Nelson, though that would have made Ricky my brother. My dad was like the Walton Grandfather.
4) Sam's father was the family disciplinarian. What about you? Do you consider yourself a rule maker, a rule follower, or a rule breaker?
At this time of life I am half rule breaker and half rule follower.
5) Sam's father was the one who gave her driving lessons. Think back to your first few times behind the wheel. Were you a naturally good driver?
No I was always nervous behind the wheel, at first, when my dad was with me.  I felt very confident once I was on my own.  In general I am a good driver.
although now I don't like driving at night and avoid it when ever I can.

6) This week's featured artist, Kenny Loggins, was born in Washington state. Have you ever lived in, or traveled to, any of our northern border states? (For those of you not as well versed in geography as Crazy Sam, that's AK, WA, MT, ND, MN, WI, MI PA, NY, VT, and ME.)
When the girls were young we lived in Michigan for several years. We would like to travel through the northwest sometime.  My dad took us to Yellowstone as kids and we traveled through Montana.  The smell at Yellowstone made me sick to my stomach and dad gave me a hard time about it ever after, since I was the one who really wanted to see Old Faithful.
7) As part of the duo Loggins and Messina, Loggins performed the song "House at Pooh Corner." Do you have a favorite character from the Winnie the Pooh books/movies?
Eyore and Tigger were always my favorites.
Tigger, Roo, and Eeyore Round Sticker

8) The mercury is going to start rising. How hot is too hot for you? 85º? 95º? Or are you one of those  "the hotter the better" people?
I get uncomfortable in the high 80's if the humidity gets too high. Thank goodness for air-conditioning, here in the Midwest.   I go as long as I can then we flip it on.  We took over the level payments on gas and electric and so far we do ok without additional money.  I told Mr BC I could live back here if I could always turn on the heat or the air-conditioning. It is built into the budget.
9) To celebrate Father's Day, Sam is giving away her father's favorite candy: LifeSavers. Would you prefer a roll of Wild Cherry, or Butter Rum, or Winter Green or Peppermint?
Oooh! Butter Rum or Wintergreen, please. I loved the LifeSaver books at Christmas when I was a kid.

  1. I think Kenny Loggins is good looking, but did you ever see his ears? They are very odd looking. So he looks better with his ears covered! ;)

I remember the lifesaver books from when I was a kid, too!

  3. I had a window seat once, I dropped my book and the whole aisle had to get up so that I could get my book.

  4. Lifesaver Book would be the best choice! If Ozzie was your dad, then Ricky would be your brother, then Kris Harmon would be your sister-in-law, and you could introduce me to Kris' brother Mark Harmon and I would be grateful to you for life.

  6. It seems like many of those TV parents had kids who were kind of messed up in real life. Go figure.

  7. I used to like the window seats in a plane, that is until age brought on the necessity for more frequent visits to toilets.

  8. Yellowstone smells? I didn't know that! And ooooh the Waltons, forgot about them. And ornaments, another thing I collect. I need to stop collecting things, I'm forgetting what it is that I actually collect! :)
