Saturday 9: I'm a Believer

Thanks to Cie for recommending the Monkees

1) This song is about a guy who fell in love when he saw her face. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I think it might really be lust at first sight.

2) "I'm a Believer" is the best-selling Monkees song. Can you name another one?
The Last Train to Clarksville. Davy Jones was my favorite Monkee, I have always had a thing for an English accent. When Mr BC tries to talk in an accent....any accent....he always ends up sounding like the Swedish chef, after a while.

3) On their TV show, the boys competed for the same girl. Have you and a friend ever been romantic rivals?
Nope, but there was a time where I might have flirted with someone's boyfriend if he was cute.

4) In another episode, the Monkees visited the circus. If you were confident there was a good strong net beneath you, would you walk across the high wire?
No I have no sense of balance.  I might try being a clown.

5) The Monkees show originally aired on Monday nights. Do you have a favorite day of the week? With retirement...one day is the same as the other.
I probably like Sunday nights as Television is usually good...even in the Summer.  We tend to try to get out on weekdays and leave weekends to the crowds.

6) Davy Jones guest starred on an episode of The Brady Bunch. The plot revolved around Marcia's efforts to get him to perform at the prom. Share one of your memories from a school dance.
I remember going to a sock hop in the gym my freshman year and slipping on the floor.  I never went to a school dance after that.

7) At the height of their popularity, the Monkees' faces and logo appeared on a lot of merchandise, including lunch boxes. Which would you rather have for lunch -- chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad?
My mom use to make tuna salad with a hard boiled egg and dried Lipton's French onion soup.  It was yummy...but way to much salt for me now.

8) You have an afternoon all to yourself. Would you rather spend it at the mall, checking out what's new in the stores and people watching, or walking through the forest, observing the birds and trees and leaves?
I would rather walk thru the countryside or the woods, any where in the great outdoors.  That is why we got the RV. I pride myself, I can stay out of the mall even at Christmas.

9) Do you have a good memory for names?
I use to be good...my memory has been better.  I am still better at getting the name than Mr BC.

  1. I like Sunday night TV too, there's usually some series on HBO that I like and there's also some BBC shows that night as well.

  2. Ouch! Slipping and falling during the sock hop was probably a NIGHTMARE at that tender age! I have some Lipton's French Onion Soup Mix in the cabinet right now. You may have inspired me.

  7. Last Train To Clarksville is my all-time favorite Monkees song, even though the words are depressing. I just like the melody!

And I am a sucker for a British accent!

  8. I'm a sucker for a Brittish accent, too...but there's definitely something to be said for an imitation of The Swedish Chef!! He's my favorite (along with the grumpy old guys Statler and Waldorf)!!

    Happy weekend!!

  9. I use to have a hard time on Sunday nights choosing between all of the good shows. Then they all ended at the same time. Now there is nothing.

  10. I wish Sunday night television was good here... I find radio better.

The idea of walking the high wire makes me squirm even when watching someone else do it.

  12. An RV? DO TELL! I'm interested in getting one....

And The Last Train... I totally know that song but I guess I didn't realize it was a Monkees song. Duh.

Fallin on your bootie at a school dance would probably keep me from going again! : )
