Wednesday Hodgepodge

See Questions 3 and 7
1. How did you welcome the month of July, and tell us one fun thing you did to celebrate the 4th. (or the weekend for any non-USA residents playing along today)
July really snuck up on me.  We usually go to the Starvy Creek Blue Grass Festival, in Conway, MO, over the fourth, but the temps have been so high, I really did not want to go even though we have AC and there are no fireworks. We always go with Maggie and Jiggs and have a good timeThere is another one in September, but the past few years we have been on vacation.  Not this year, so maybe we will make that one, it should be a little cooler.
We have had a lot of rain and humidity, but it did not stop the fireworks in the neighborhood, so Gwennie was in the shower most of the weekend and yesterday. The fourth is not really my holiday. And we did not really do anything fun.
We do have some fun planned for at the end of the month with a car show where Mr BC will show off one of his vintage cars.We belong to the Greater Ozark British Motor Club, and will be at the show and the associated dinner and awards show in the evening.

2. Right now..what's your favorite red thing? white thing? blue thing?
Red pomegranate seeds, though they aren't in our stores right now, I have a new flowy pleated white blouse that is nice and comfortable, blue berries are in season right now, so I always have fruit in my cereal.

3. Wave the white flag, raise a red flag, fly your freak flag...which 'flag' have you flown most recently? Explain.
I surrender! I finally hid the last objectionable Trump supporter 'friend' on my facebook.  I am just tired of the election and the memes.  I am truly contemplating not voting, as I have some problems with Hillary and Bill as well.  I worry that if I don't vote at all, Trump might get in, and it would be all my fault.  I wonder if we have a third party on the MO ballot. If you are for Trump you can pass on my blog or not....This is my last post on the subject....maybe.

4. According to Conde Nast Traveler, these are the seven best places to visit in July-

a boat safari in Botswanna's Okavango Delta, Riviera Maya Mexico (it's whale shark season and apparently you can swim with them), Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Pamploma Spain, St. Petersburg Russia, the Fuji Rock Festival at Mount Naeba Japan, the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria

If time and money weren't factors would you want to see any/all of these? Which would you most like to see and why?
I've been to Japan and had a wonderful time, but not really interested in any kind of rock festival.  Spain, Austria and Russia would be interesting though,  Africa or Mexico would hold no interest for me.  Now I've been to Yellowstone, but the smell put me off, when I was younger and I mostly felt car sick when we went to see all the hot water and paint pots. Other than that, it is beautiful and would be cooler than MO in July, so I would love to go back to Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons in our RV.

5. Grilled cheese, pimento cheese, or mac and cheese...your favorite from the cheesy treats listed?
This month I have been feasting on Swiss and Pepper Jack grilled cheese sandwiches, but I love Mac and Cheese too.

6. What makes you sweat?
I would love to say....I don't sweat....I glisten, however, since the "change" I glisten, at the drop of a hat, and profusely, from the top of my head.  I always thought that after that....hot flashes would cease....but not for me.

7. Your favorite movie with a 'patriotic' theme of some sort?

I always loved the play and movie 1776, also love the mini-series John Adams. Independence Day is a hoot.  I hear the sequel is not as good, so I won't be seeing it until it is free on Netflix.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
The sky is dark this morning, with Thunder storms all around us.  We have to go to a blood draw for Mr BC this morning. The pups will get a walk, as soon as I finish this post, as long as it is not raining. then I am in for the rest of the day with my laundry.

  1. I do believe you can write in a third party candidate on your ballot. I am in doing laundry today too. Just as well, it is so hot and humid out I prefer the a/c :)

  2. Oh man...the whole election dilemma. It seems as though nobody likes the candidates we have, but to not vote would still ensure that someone wins and that you can't complain because you didn't exercise your own right to vote.

  3. I feel sad and slightly panicked at the choices we have this election cycle. I'm disgusted by all that has transpired with the Clintons and feel like her security clearance should absolutely be revoked, hence making her ineligible for the office she is seeking. I'm not a Trump fan either so what's a voter to do??? It's a mess and makes me want to hide my head under the covers until it blows over. Except I guess it's not going to blow over. I loved the John Adams mini series! That was a good one! Have a great day!

  4. I'm with you up to a point on the elections. I have to admit I'm guilty of sharing some political stuff on FB, but I generally don't share the stupid memes, just news stories. That said, I find it terribly sad that in a country of this size Trump and Clinton are the best candidates we can come up with????

  5. I'm with you on Trump. I don't know many supporters, but Facebook makes me a basket case. The only problem with not voting is you can't complain about if you don't. :)
Glad to see a new post!

  6. I share your views on voting, and Trump, although I shouldn't because it's none of my business. I had to face leave or not leave Europe and hated having to make a decision.

  7. I would need to haul my dogs for this vacation to work. I would like to get on a train to the West coast and take a slow boat to China by way of a complete tour of South America, the Pacific, Australia and end up in Europe making it down to Africa. I may not make it home. If not, just dust my remains wherever but take good care of my dogs please.

  8. I must say that I feel the same way that you do about the election. One thing though, I don't want the lying, law breaking former Secretary of State to be president. You would think that with a population of over 300 million people we'd be able to find a few moral and better qualified people to be president. "The only thing wrong with this presidential election is that someone will win." I'm not a fan of Trump either. Like you I'm thinking about sitting this one out too. Perhaps we can cancel each other out? Thanks for stopping by my blog page.
