Random Thoughts

Just some random thoughts today.

Staying with DD1 is always an adventure in eating.  She is very into Organic and I think Organic is another word for Expensive.  "I lived 65 years without organic on the package." is what I think. but to be sure packaging and additives have made our food less pure.  I know that she is trying to do what is best for her kids as she sees it. One thing she did turn me onto was almond milk. I usually use non-fat lactaid milk due to lactose intolerance, but I like the taste of the almond milk and it does have less sugar in it than cows milk.

We wanted to see Les Miserables, yesterday with DD2, however, she had a tummy ache, probabaly due to her lactose intolerance, it runs in our family.  With her new job she has Mon, Tue and Saturdays off, so we are going to try again Mon or Tuesday.  I hope it works out, we promised to see it together.  She took me to see it the first time when I visited her in London, while she was doing a semester there.  It was a magical experience for me and I have been a fan ever since.  We were close enough to the stage to see them spit.  I then took Mr BC to see it when it was in Los Angeles a few years ago.

I have some curtains from Ikea that I brought last year before we moved back here, but for this house.  After the 3 weeks we spent here the previous January, I knew we had to have something heavier curtains than the lace ones his mom chose, once I took down her rollup shades which I detest.
I have learned I am going to have to have some kind of window covering under the curtains as well, so I am shopping for something other than roller blinds. The bitter cold temperature we have had, just radiate off of the windows.

Is anyone watching Season 3 of Downton Abbey?  I am such a fan.  This season had been off to a slow start and Shirley MacLaine's character was a bit of a disappointment and I don't understand Violet and Lord Grantham's objection to Edith's Sir Anthony,  their union would have been perfectly acceptable even perfect, back in the day, it did not ring true, but will open some other doors to Edith.
Matthew will be opening some new cans of worms now that he thinks the estate could be run better. I do love the costuming.  What beautiful wedding gowns.

  1. The shop ran out of milk the other day, all that they had left was the organic type. I couldn't tell the difference and wonder how it is different?

  2. It's impressive that your daughter can do organic well. I have a hard time balancing eating good vs. eating what tastes good. :)
Yes, you must go see Les Mis asap!It will be worth the wait (at least I hope you think so).
And I have heard nothing but good things about Downtown Abbey. Trying to decide if I have the time for another series to get it via Netflix.
    Have a nice week!

  3. I'm always confused about organic foods... after all it isn't the product itself that's 'organic', it's the soil or the feed or whatever went towards making the product in the first place.

I have seen Series 3 of Downton Abbey... don't ever let me reveal what happens to those still watching.

  4. I also like almond milk, but I had a heck of a time finding the unsweetened versions here - better now. Just discovered Downton Abbey, so now I'm catching up online - so far it's fabulous. I always seem to miss out on series when they first get started.

  6. Beautiful wedding dress, indeed!

I always wonder about lactose intolerance--that seems like a 'modern' problem. Did they have that malady back in the day? I can't remember reading about it, although I imagine that wasn't part of polite conversation at Downton Abbey...
