What I Remember-Chat 151

What's the earliest time in your life you can remember? Can you remember being 2 years old, 5 years old, etc? I can remember being 4 years old.  I remember going to the Rose Parade and shaking Hopalong Cassidy's hand. I can remember going to the first day of school, and ballet lessons at 5 years.  It is hard to tell what is memory and what is looking at pictures.

What's do you like to put on pasta? (Your favorite topping.) I like red sauce and Italian Sausage.  Also, I am fond of spaghetti and chili.

Is there something that takes time away from more important things in your life? (TV, internet, talking on the telephone, etc.) Yes, TV and the internet.  I have been scaling back on both.

Do you buy many clothes that are "high maintenance"? (Clothes that need to be ironed, dry cleaned, or hand washed) I have nothing in my closet that require ironing or dry cleaning.  I do hand wash a small number of things.

Please finish this sentence. "I'd like to visit the beach today in Santa Barbara and watch my grandsons play.  We don't often visit them during beach weather. I lived in CA for most of my life and I was not very fond of beaches after I was grown.  We do not take Beach Vacations.

  1. I enjoyed reading your answers, and I like the photos very much. The lady on the ironing board makes me smile, and I can identify with the bird at the beach. The sand is too hot, even if I am wearing a pair of sandals.
--And it is true that our 'real' memories and stories we have reconstructed from photos are hard to tell apart.

  2. Aww I love that little ducky on the beach photo. So cute. :)

The lady surfing on the ironing board reminded me of my little brothers when they were kids. They often did things like that and ended up with some pretty nasty boo-boos because of their antics.

Your mention of Hopalong Cassidy and the parade reminded of the a parade when I was a little bitty thing. I was terrified of clowns (still am to a degree!) and one was coming towards me. I remember shrinking back into the shadows of the corner of the courthouse to get away from the clown.

Thanks for the memories. Have a great evening!

  5. I know what you mean about differentiating between memory and pictures. it can be hard to tell the difference. Your picture of the lady surfing on her ironing board cracked me up!! Love it!

  6. That surfin' lady was hilarious! I love the beach but the water is a shock to most people who come to visit, as it is so COLD even in summer. They always remark on that, how cold it is. Of course they always dive into it before checking, the first time. hehehe
About memories. We tend to remember something if it's horrible enough if we remember things before the age of 3.
