A Day at the Opera-Saturday 9

Not a Diva

1) Have you ever been to the opera?
No, I am not sure I would enjoy a whole opera, they are hard to understand, and while I appreciate most music, I really prefer the tenors to the sopranos. Wait Les Miserables is an Opera in English so I guess so.

2) Maria Callas was often called a "diva." Is that a compliment or a criticism?
I really don't think it is complimentary any more. It was used to describe a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera, but now has a more negative meaning. I know some Diva's

3) Aida was composed by famous Italian Giusseppe Verdi. In addition to opera, what else can the world thank Italy for?
Pasta, Pizza, Sophia Loren, and Oh Oh Oh..... Andrea Bocelli

4) Verdi was Italian and Callas was Greek. Would you rather vacation in Italy or Greece?
I have had the pleasure to cruise the Greek islands and visit Athens, so I would want to visit Italy. So much history there.

5) The Marx Bros. starred in A Night at the Opera. What's the funniest movie you have ever seen?
Hands Down......Some Like it Hot
6) What's for dinner tonight?
Some kind of chicken, probably turkey burgers.

7) Are you wearing any jewelry right now?
No, not even my wedding ring.  I usually put on earrings when I leave the house.

8) Sam Winters has a scratchy throat and watery eyes. How do you treat the common cold?
I get head colds and sinus infections.  I take daily allergy pills this time of year to keep the upper respiratory clear.  Once I get it, I use a netti pot to keep it clear, Nyquil works for me too. I just got over a cold but I will have the drip and the coughing for the rest of the winter.  I hate colds.

9) Do you need your glasses (or contacts) when you drive?
According to the DMV I do.

  1. I love Opera, even though I don't understand the language. Perhaps it's the music in my case, but the actions are a big help.

  2. "Nobody's perfect" and "I'd be out in the middle of nowhere, sitting on my ukulele" are two of my favorite lines in moviedom.

  3. Luckily, I have been healthy so far this winter. Although with the wacky weather we've been having, I'm sure that's going to change. (we went from 56 above zero to 23 below zero in the same day)

  4. I have mixed feeling about "Some Like It Hot"

  5. My answer for the Greece/Italy question would be the exact opposite. I wouldn't balk at another trip to Italy, but Greece is on my "next" list.
Did you get to see Les Mis, the movie?
