Hair Bands and More-Saturday9

1) Do you have a favorite "hair metal band?
I had to look up what a Hair Metal Band is, and I recognized some names on the list.  The 80's was my DD's time but I did hear the music by default when we were in the car. I would have to say Van Halen although, I have a special spot for Queen.

2) Def Leppard got their start in South Yorkshire, England. Have you ever been to the UK?
Yes I have written about my love for all things Anglo. I had the pleasure of visiting London when DD2 went there for a semester.  We had a great time together, we went everywhere on the Underground, Mind the Gap and Carry On! DD2 likes to tell how she took me to Buckingham Palace on the Tube.  We had been to the Tower, earlier and I was tired, we got off at a stop to far and had to walk. As we walked along a stonewall, I asked when we would get there?  My feet hurt!
"Mom, were are there, it is right over the wall." We turned the corner and there we were.  I was impressed.

  3) Who would you rather chat with, one-on-one: Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William or Prince Harry?
I think Phillip and Charles might be too stuffy, for my taste. I think Prince William, Kate, and Prince Harry would be a lot more fun to talk to. I might not ever see William V and Queen Katherine sit on the throne of England for a lot of different reasons. Mainly my age and Elizabeth II age.

4) Do you use real sugar, or a sugar substitute?
I use Splenda or sometimes, for cooking, Splenda and real sugar.

5) Valentine's Day is big for candy sales. Did you indulge in any Valentine-themed, sugary treats this week?
Not yet, however, I have to go to the store today and I may pick-up some 'day after' candy.

6) Do you regularly balance your checkbook?
I use to, now I watch the account online and draw a line when, everything has cleared. We are currently working with a financial advisor and he had us make a budget as an exercise in planning and I was amazed at how much goes out that I can't categorize.  So I am going to go through everything next month and budget so we can save for the traveling we want to do.

7) What was your last impulse purchase?
My new headboard. I found it at Pier 1 before Christmas, and fell in love, it was on sale and everything, but Christmas is not a time to splurge on yourself and of course, it was gone.  Went in last week and it was on sale again.  Bought it!

8) When Sam was a girl, she had nightmares about snakes under her bed. When did you last have a bad dream? My bad dreams are rarely nightmare types of dreams. They usually are more like anxiety dreams and I usually have one at least once a week.  Lately I have been dreaming that I am back at work at the bank and things are not going well.

9) We're ordering pizza. Do you want deep dish or thin crust?
I love crispy thin crust cheese, mushroom, onion, sundried tomatoes.

  1. Love that photo of the next generation of royals.

And I do the same thing re: my finances via Quicken. It helps me see where I can economize.

  3. I think everyone so far went "Hun?" for #1. I guess I'm a different generation.

  4. Oh no you're still having dreams about work! You mean they don't stop after retirement!?!?
I agree on the thin crust and London. Van Halen is a good choice.

  5. I think being in the company of William and Catherine would be quite rejuvenating. I've only made it to duchesses so far...lol.

  6. Queen is an awesome band. Plus, Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics or something along those lines. How cool is that?

    Also, good choice for pizza!

  7. The younger royals are a real breath of fresh air. Thankfully William and Harry seem to have more of their Mother's (Princess Diana)genes than their father's. I really don't want Charles and particularly Camilla to be on the throne and would be happy if they were bypassed so William and Kate would take their place.
