Chatting on the Porch-Epic Fail

Everyday Ruralty
  • What's  the one thing you feel is the biggest waste of  your time during an average week?Playing games on the computer.  Last night, I was playing Spider Solitaire and decided I would go to bed when I won a game.  Half an hour later I finally went to bed.... a loser.

  • When was the last time you baked a pie?  Last year, I baked a berry pie....Epic Fail, a waste of sweet berries it never set up.  I made a peach pie the next week that was great.  I love pie,,,but it is too high in calories to have too often.
  • What do you want to spend time doing, that you aren't right now? I need to get to work and get ready for our camping trip Wednesday.  I should be out with Mr BC in the RV but I am here.

  • What do you do with old clothes?  I still have some things that I wore when I worked, that I will probably donate after they have hung in my closet for a little while longer.  I usually wear clothes until they drop off me.   When they stain or wear out I put them in a rag bag or toss them. Now that I am retired I spend my winter in sweats, around the house and the rest of the year I spend it in shorts or jeans.

  • If we were having lunch on the porch today, what would you bring for the potluck styled lunch? I would bring the other half of a great watermelon that is in the fridge.  We are going to a bluegrass festival this week.  We will be camping with Maggie and Jiggs so I plan to cut it up and take it with me.

  1. Games, yep, I listen to an audio book and play mindlessly until 'm embarrassed.
Watermelon adds alot to a potluck.

  2. I've heard that bluegrass has its roots in Scottish music - the Ulster-Scots (I think they're often called Scots-Irish in America) brought their music over and bluegrass developed from there.
Not sure if that's true of course ...just a theory I've heard :)

  3. I love Bluegrass, which does indeed come partially from the Hills where many Scots-Irish settled after coming to America. That came about after the trek to Ireland when they were set into boats and cast to the sea. It was called, "The Highland Clearings". My grandmother was from that heritage and taught me to sing.

This is such a nice Tuesday Meme. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  4. Mmmmmm....pie. I love a warm fruit pie with ice cream, but you are right--lots of calories!

Bluegrass is great! I hope that you have fun camping.

  5. Are you chatting with yourself? That looks like a mean pie that needs to be eaten.

  6. I donate old clothes to charity. Oh, and I play spider solitaire as well.

Thank you so much for your good wishes re hubby. I'm back, albeit on an irregular basis. Maybe I'll blog once a week for a while just to keep my hand in.

  7. I do the same exact thing with Spider Solitare. I tell myself I can quit when I win two more or something like that. It really stinks when you get up the next morning and realize that you actually missed sleep for something like that. Have fun camping.
