ERMAHGERD - April A-Z

Who is this girl?
The question should be what Is 'Ermahgerd'? What Does It Mean? I see it on MLKSHK all the time but last night since I was trying to come up with an E for my A-Z, I decided to investigate.

You've likely seen 'ermahgerd', or its abbreviated 'gerd' on Facebook pages, Reddit links, or lolcat photos. This modern derogatory expression has come about as both a meme and a verbal expression of someone's derpitity. DERP, I know what that means,

The answer is ermahgerd is 'oh my god' as pronounced by someone with a speech impediment, SPECIFICALLY retainer lisp. So the above is Oh My God, Coffee. Now you know.  I still have to translate it to read it....and only some of them are funny, so I just might roll past them the next time I see it.

    I didn't get it until my daughter pronounced it for me. Now it's kind of stuck in my head!

    They are kind of stupid, but still funny at the same time. It reminds me of Kristen Wiig's "target lady" sketch on Sat Night Live.

    Uh-huh. Thanks for that bit of information. Facebook actually makes me despair for humanity sometimes, I'm not kidding. When a video of ducks crossing a road gets three million views, I shake my head and silently mumble ermahgerd.
