WATERBEAR-April A-Z

Pictures of creatures photographed by Scanning electron micrographs are facinating. This is a photo of a Waterbear or tardigrade on a speck of moss.  I found this picture on Mlkshk one of my favorite daily reads and I kept going back to look at it.  Waterbears are known to go for decades without food or water and can survive in temperature near to zero to above boiling. Their survivablitiy has been tested in 2011 outside an orbiting space shuttle and they are so durable because they can repair their own DNA.  I just though they were kind of cute in an alien sort of way. More pictures here and more information from NASA here.
